Assignment 1: Examining Your Community’s Source of EnergyIt is easy to criticize society for not using renewable resources, but in reality, how difficult would this transition be? What kind processes and procedures would be involved? How would such a transition be made? The purpose of this assignment is for you to consider what type of energy your neighborhood is currently powered by and what it would really take to convert this source to a renewable one. How much would it take to switch your community to a renewable resource and what would this mean for the environment? For the assignment, complete the following:Identify three primary types of energy that powers your home as well as all of the homes in your community. You may find this information on your community Web site or the Web sites of the local power companies. For example, your community may use electricity and solar panels.Explain how the sources of energy you identified impact the environment. Consider the following:Does the use of these types of energy resource have a negative impact on the environment in your area?Does your community have nuclear waste to dispose of?Has your community always used these three power sources? If so, how do you feel this has impacted the environment over time? How much of an impact have these sources of energy had on local air and water quality?Considering the current source(s) of power available, determine how much energy your house uses each month. You can find this information on your monthly energy bill.Calculate your annual usage for a year. Using this value, estimate the energy consumption for your community. The US Census Bureau is one resource you can use to estimate the number of households in your community. You can use the following formulae for this calculation:(monthly energy usage) × (12 months per year) = (household energy usage per year);(yearly energy estimate for your house) × (estimated number of houses in your community) = (estimated yearly energy use for your community)The following is example of the above calculation:52.8 kilo watts per hour (kwh) × 12 months = 633.6 kwh;633.6KWH × 200 houses in your community = 126,720 kwhRecommend a realistic, renewable resource to power your community, using your calculated power needs. Consider the following sources: hydropower, solar power, wind turbines, and geothermal energy.Which source would be the best for your community?Justify your choice based on the kind of resources that are available, how much power these alternative sources can produce, and your estimated energy demands for the community.Having recommended an alternative power source, conclude by addressing the following:How realistic is this alternative power source for your community? How will people in your community respond to energy conversion? Will they support it or be against it? Give reasons. How expensive would it be to convert to the alternative power source you recommended? How would this new source impact the environment? What organisms would benefit most from this conversion?Support your statements with appropriate examples and approximately 4–6 credible resources.Write an 8–10-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.13/05/20200.4biology

Please review Chapter 19 and the Wedge Stabilization Strategy article (Pacala & Socolow) and compose a 650-750 word memo that outlines: ● the nature of the environmental problem of climate change and the human role in the development of that problem; and, ● the prospects for solving the problem (or at least mitigating it) over the course of the next thirty yearsusing illustrative examples. While it will be appropriate to refer to suggestions outlined in the book and the article, you must support your assessment by pointing to at least four examples of how some of those suggested solutions are actually being implemented. The memo should be analytical and reflect your research rather than express opinions. Here is a suggested outline to help you stay on track: Introduction – please address the nature of the environmental problem of climate change and the human role in the development of the problem. Introduce the problem to set the stage for the main points you will make throughout your paper. (2 points) Body – Assessment of the problem and prospective solutions. Discuss how suggested solutions are being implemented to some degree. Provide four illustrative examples (be specific). (4 points) Example 1 – mitigation Example 2 – mitigation Example 3 – adaptation Example 4 – adaptation Conclusion – briefly summarize the main points described throughout your paper. Conclude with a final statement regarding the examples you have outlined. (2 points) Works Cited/References – list and cite all sources used throughout your memo using MLA or APA format. Do not cite any sources not used in your memo. (1 point) Proper grammar/spelling/usage/format (1 point)Information supporting your suggestions must be appropriately quoted/attributed/cited. Summarize Professional Writing

Article attached that needs to be summarized.PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE, CAREFULLY, USE DIRECT AND INDIRECT QUOTES FROM IT TO PRODUCE YOU PRECIS DOCUMENT.Reminder on How to Construct Your SubmissionA précis is a one-page, single-spaced summary which is useful in doing research. For example, if a student has a five-page reading list, it can be difficult to come back to item number 16 and remember what was in the book or article, but with a summary, students can easily see and remember what they have read and how they have reacted to it. It can be used as a giant note card, and, with the bibliographic information (in proper format) at the top of the paper, it can be shuffled in with other précis in alphabetical order, chronological order, or any other order, just the way a note card can.Since some theses are never directly stated, the students must be ready to think, to categorize and synthesize, and to state the implied thesis in their own words.Students should pay special attention to any divisions that the author has seen fit to use, usually indicated by captions. This categorization is important to summarizing the information and maintaining the appropriate relationships among ideas. The level of generality and specificity is determined by the amount of information that can fit into the one-page format. For example, a 700-page book would be summarized at a greater level of generality than would a 17-page article. If they choose to use a short quotation or two, they must be sure to quote exactly, use quotation marks, and give in-text documentation so that they will be able to distinguish between their own words and those of the author of the work being summarized when they return to their summary.21/03/202015english

Introduction to Economics

Assignment:1. You decide in May that the coming summer’s corn crop will be much larger and the fall corn price consequently much lower than most people expect.A. To act on your beliefs, should you buy or should you sell December corn futures? (Futures are contracts to buy or sell at a future date at a price established now.)B. If a substantial number of knowledgeable people come to share your opinion about the size of this summer’s crop, what will happen to the price of December corn futures?C. What information will this change in the price of corn futures convey to current holders and users of corn?D. How will this information affect their decisions about holding corn for future sale or use?E. How will these decisions, based on the information provided by the change in the price of December corn futures, affect June consumption?F. Can speculators carry a bumper crop backward in time from a period of lesser to a period of greater scarcity?2. The text argues that if an activity is known to be profitable, more people will go into that activity and the profits will disappear. Does that apply to the selling of cocaine?A. The costs of selling cocaine include the risk of being arrested and imprisoned. Why is a ten-year sentence not twice as strong a deterrent as a five-year sentence? Why does one chance in five of being imprisoned for 10 years translate into less than two years’ imprisonment? Is a cocaine seller likely to use a high or a low discount rate in deciding on the subjective cost of possible imprisonment? Why is the threat of imprisonment more effective in deterring some people than others?B. Another cost of selling is the risk of being killed by competitors. This cost will be much lower for some people than for others. Characterize a person for whom this cost will be relatively low.C. For whom is the selling of cocaine profitable?3.Use Figure 8-7 on page 199 of the textbook for this question.Have you ever wondered why otherwise identical books usually sell for so much more in hardcover than in softcover editions? Surely it doesn’t cost that much more to attach a hard cover when it’s all being done on an assembly-line basis! This question tries to construct a plausible explanation, and to give you practice in working with the concepts of marginal cost and marginal revenue. Some potential purchasers of a new book will be eager to obtain it as soon as it’s published and will be willing to pay a high price to do so.Those who want to give the book as a present may be willing to pay a high price to demonstrate their generosity, and may appreciate having a hard cover on the book as a sign of its quality. Still other potential purchasers—libraries are the clearest example—want hardcover books because they stand up better to heavy use; these purchasers are willing to pay a substantially higher price for a book to avoid the considerable expense of having to bind it themselves between hard covers. Libraries also will want to purchase a popular book right after it has been published in order to satisfy their eager patrons. There are also many potential purchasers, however, who want to read the book, would be willing to buy a copy if the price isn’t too high, and who don’t very much care whether it is in hard-cover or soft. The demand curve on the left-hand graph in Figure 8–7 portrays the kind of demand for the book that might emerge in such circumstances. The top segment of the demand curve is created by those willing to pay a premium to obtain the book quickly, or to get it between hard covers. Once the price falls below $20, “general readers” also become willing to purchase a copy. (The demand curve would not have such a sharp kink, but straight lines are easier to work with than curves.) Assume throughout that the marginal cost to the publisher of printing and shipping one more book is $4.A. What would be the most profitable price for the publisher to set for the book? The marginal-revenue curves that correspond to each segment of the demand curve have been drawn for you, using the gimmick explained in Figure 8–3.B. The most profitable price is the price that enables the publisher to sell all those copies, but only those copies for which marginal revenue is greater than marginal cost. The problem in this case is that in order to sell the units from 16,000 to 24,000, for which marginal revenue exceeds marginal cost, the publisher must also sell the units between 12,000 and 16,000, for which marginal revenue is less than marginal cost. Which is the more profitable place to stop? Should the publisher set the price at $28 and sell 12,000, or set the price at $16 and sell 24,000?C. Suppose the publisher puts a hard cover on the book when it’s first published, then waits six or eight months before bringing the book out in a paperback edition at a lower price. What prices should it set for each edition? A reasonable approach would be to assume that all prospective purchasers at prices above $20 either are not willing to wait or want the hardcover edition, while those below $20 are willing to wait and to accept the paperback edition. To calculate the prices to set for each edition, you must first separate the two demand curves. Cut the lower section of the demand curve from the upper section and drag it to the left so that it begins at the price axis; it will then show the quantity of softcover books that will be demanded at various prices when the paperback edition is published. This has been done for you on the right-hand graph in Figure 8–7. Draw the marginal-revenue curve for each demand curve, find out where marginal revenue crosses marginal cost in each market, and set the appropriate prices.4. How should NASA, (manufacturing a new supersonic commercial airliner), take account of the plane’s development costs in determining the prices to charge airline companies? Should they suspend production if they can’t obtain a price that will cover development costs? Or do development costs have no bearing on what travelers are willing to pay? Explain. 1000 words is fine17/05/202015socialscience

HintsforUnit3Assignment

Hints for part of the Unit 3 AssignmentRemember that the Unit 3 Assignment includes work from both Units 2 and Unit 3.————————Question 1 is from Unit 2Question 1a is asking whether or not that level of production can be achieved, given the existing PPF curve, and asks you to explain WHY.  Remember what I had people type in during the Seminar about resources?Question 1b is asking you to compute the marginal opportunity cost of one 200 pound batch of corn (800lbs to 1,000lbs) in pounds of poultry that must be given up to get this batch of corn.Question 1c is asking you to compute the marginal opportunity cost of a similar 200 pound batch of corn (200lbs to 400lbs) in pounds of poultry that must be given up to get this batch of corn.- Remember from the Unit 2 Seminar:Remember what I had everyone type about resources during the Seminar.- Also remember how to compute marginal opportunity costs.o after catching the FIRST batch of 20 fish Tom would still have enough TIME to get 25 coconutso after catching the SECOND batch of 20 fish Tome would not have any time left to get coconuts, so he would have 0 coconuts.o The marginal opportunity cost of the SECOND batch of 20 fish was that Tom had to give up ALL of the remaining 25 coconuts because Tom no longer had time to get them.Question 1d asks why these two answers are different and what that implies about the SHAPE of the PPF curve.Go back and re-listen to the Unit 2 Seminar for a full explanation. Remember the things that I ask students to type in the chat that night during the Seminar.- Remember that the best resources for producing one thing are used first. If more output of that thing is needed, resources that are not as good must be used, therefore increasing the Marginal Opportunity Costs of the additional output.o If the FIRST batch of 20 fish had a marginal opportunity cost of 5 coconuts, and the SECOND batch of 20 fish had a marginal opportunity cost of 25 coconuts, what is happening to the marginal opportunity costs of fish? Are the marginal opportunity costs increasing, staying the same, or decreasing?o If Marginal Opportunity costs of additional batches of fish are increasing, what does this imply about the shape of the Production Possibility Frontier curve? (Remember what I had everyone type during the Seminar).——————-Question 2 is from Unit 3 and is a straight Supply and demand question.Go back and re-listen to the Unit 3 Seminar.
For questions 2 b-e. pay particular attention to the example in the Seminar of selling to the U.S. and then suddenly also being able to sell to Germany (slides 63-73). The Assignment question is very similar.See part 8 and part 9 of the Supply and Demand videos under the Video icon that is under the Unit 3 Reading icon. Question 2 is like the example that I did in the Seminar. You add the original country’s demand to the new country’s demand to get a NEW total demand.  Then see at what price that New total amount demanded is equal to the same amount that suppliers are willing to supply.  That is the new price. Then go back to the original country’s demand and see how much they are willing to demand at this new higher price.- Did you add your references and coversheet information to the template with your answers?

EVSP201 CASE STUDY Instructions (100 Points; 5 Pages/Approx. 1200 Words)1. Immediate Issue or Problem.  Share the topic you chose for this case study. Describe the issue or problem and the challenges related to implementing or pursuing implementation of solutions. (5 Points, 100 words)2. Interrelated or Associated Issues. Nothing is simple – explain other related issues or considerations when implementing or pursuing implementation of solutions to this problem. (10 Points, 200 words)3. Issue Analysis. Summarize the most important pieces of information you learned about this issue. Identify which are facts, opinions, and assumptions. Analyze any financial information presented by the issue – this is an essential part of this assignment! State any long-term issues that might result from addressing this issue. (20 Points, 300 words)4. Solutions or Options. This is the most important part! List the various options available to resolve the problem. Discuss each option and list the advantages (pros) and disadvantages (cons) of each option.  (30 Points, 300 words)This is the major part of your case study and demonstrates that you clearly understand the issue(s) and various possible outcomes. There are usually at least 3 good options in a case and often many more. Identify each option clearly and always show the pros and cons of each.5. Recommendation and Implementation. Based on the analysis of the options, state what you would do to correct the problem (recommendation) and how you would do this (implementation). Your recommendation is usually a restatement of the best option. This is not the time to analyze new options. The implementation plan should list the steps and estimate a time frame for implementation (how long it will take to implement the recommended solution). (20 Points, 200 words)6. Assessment. Identify the indicators you will use to determine if the implemented solution is effective. Some examples are what type of data will be collected, analysis of the budget (including Return on Investment/ROI), regularly scheduled reviews, etc. The approach you use will depend on the nature of the recommended solution. (10 Points, 100 words)7. References. List all references used, including weblinks, in this section using APA format. (5 Points)

CourseworkInstructions_Student_v20201

INDEX OPTIONS Group Project (in groups of five each)Coursework  Submission Instructions (please follow these carefully)Deadline for submission is provided by course instructor/tutor.You need to submit a hard copy of your project that has:a. A cover page that contains the following information: (i) Title: ‘C39SN2 Coursework: Financial Derivatives Project’(ii) Names or IDs of all group participants; (iii) Group number (the number of your group on the Vision sign-up list)(iv) Word countb. A filled-in and signed ‘Coursework Group Self-Assessment Form’  (included with the course package and obtainable from Vision).c. A CD or USB that contains a copy of your Excel caclualtions (this can be put in an envelope and attached to the report by a sticky tape). Coursework An index option is a financial derivative that gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a basket of stocks (e.g., S&P 100 or FTSE 100) at an agreed-upon price (strike price) on a certain future date (European), or any time up to that date (American). Index Options on US stock indices are traded at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE, see www.cboe.com). This coursework is an investigation of the pricing of options on the S&P 100 index. There are European-style options (CBOE symbol code: XEO) and American-style (CBOE symbol code: OEX) options on the S&P 100. Approach(You need to read Chapter 4 of Chance and Brooks (Option Pricing: The Binomial Model) priorto attempting the coursework. Links to all websites relevant to this coursework are given below and are posted under ‘Links’ in Vision). This is a demanding coursework. You are advised to start as early as possible, and follow the following steps in order:1. Read Chapter 4 of Chance and Brooks (Option Pricing: The Binomial Model).2. Read the instructions below to understand the requirements.3. Read the instructions again and extract a list of ALL the data that you need to download (from CBOE, Bloomberg and etfdb.com, see below). This data will consist of a) prices, exercise prices and time to maturity of European and American call and put options on the S&P100 index (from CBOE); b) the level and volatility of the S&P100 index (from CBOE); c) the dividend yield on the S&P100 index (from etfdb.com); and d) interest rate data (from Bloomberg). Note that you will need to download all this data within the same 15-minute interval, since CBOE’s website provides data with a 15-minute delay, and if you download the data during different 15-minute intervals they will not match with each other.4. Prior to downloading the data logon to the relevant websites, including the CBOE, and familiarise yourself with them, the option symbols (also explained below), and with the ‘mouse clicks’ that you need to perform in order to download the data. This will prepare you well to act fast enough to download all the data within the same 15-minute interval window.5. Once the data is downloaded, you will need to do calculations based on this data and, therefore, will require extensive use of Excel. You will also need to repeat these calculations for different options, and to automate the calculations you are strongly advised to think carefully about the structure and organisation of your spreadsheet prior to implementation. 6. Assume a 365 day year throughout.Main Requirement: A report of 1500 to 2000 words in length (excluding figures, tables, references and appendix) that contains a response to the questions that feature under the two steps below. Your report should be stand alone, but you are required to show how you performed the detailed calculations by attaching your Excel sheet in a USB or a CD to the hardcopy submission, or by attaching snapshots to Excel sheets in an Appendix to your report (in this latter case, please highlight, reveal or type the equations used in each cell). STEP 1 Downloading Option DataYou will need to download prices for puts and calls as in the matrix in the table below (under Choice of Options for Analysis). First read the section below and when you are ready to download the data login to the CBOE website www.cboe.com. Choose the ‘delayed quotes’ tool under the ‘Quotes & Data’ tab. When the ‘Delayed Quotes’ window opens, enter on the left panel the symbol codes OEX or XEO and press ‘submit’. You will see some data with a ‘Filters by’ ribbon at the top. Choose Filters: Volume ‘all’; expiration type ‘all’; options range ‘all’; and choose the expiration month that will determine the maturity of all the options you download. Once these filter values are set press ‘View Chain’. A table of information on options available will then display. It is best to just copy and paste in Excel the entire table that comes up from the website (including the information right at the top line above the table, which pertains to the level of the S&P 100 index itself, not the options). You need to follow this procedure twice, once to extract a table of OEX options, and another for XEO options. Once you have all the data in Excel you can then pick and choose the options that you want t  o focus on in the analyses (specific exercise prices and preferably options that have some volume – you can use the filters too to help you narrow down this choice). Beside prices, you will need to also note the time you downloaded the data, in order to calculate the time left to maturity for these options, and the level of the S&P 100 index (i.e., the spot price of the index) at the time of your downloading the options data. These last two pieces of information appear towards the top of the table anyway, so it is good practice to copy the entire table together with the information that appears at the top of it.Calculating time to maturityWith regard to calculations of the maturity dates of the options, bear in mind that the XEO and OEX option contracts at CBOE mature on the Saturday following the third Friday of the maturity month of each contract. (Please check the full contract specifications are available under the ‘Products’ tab in the CBOE website, http://www.cboe.com/products/indexopts/oex_spec.aspx ).Choice of Options for AnalysisConsider pairs of put and call options with each pair having the same (or close) strike price and maturity. You need pairs of American-style (OEX) and pairs of European-style (XEO) options. For each exercise style choose a pair that are at-the-money, and another that are out-of-the-money, so that American and European pairs that are at-the-money have the same (or close) time to maturity and exercise price. Do the same for in-the-money and out-of-the-money options. You should end up with a choice of options that fit the description of the table below. American (OEX) European (XEO) Same or close ATM call ATM call Exercise price and time to maturity All options should be active (i.e., showing some volume and/or open interest, but preferably both). But this is not a strict requirement. OTM call OTM call Exercise price and time to maturity ITM call ITM call Exercise price and time to maturity ATM put ATM put Exercise price and time to maturity OTM put OTM put Exercise price and time to maturity ITM put ITM put Exercise price and time to maturity For ATM options choose options that are closest at-the-money (i.e., with a strike price closest to the level of the S&P100 index at the time of downloading the data). Then choose options with exercise price on either side of that of the ATM options such that a pair is ITM and a pair is OTM Choose a particular maturity between 1 week and 1 year for all options that you will use. In all your choices of strike price and maturity be guided by the table above (flexible) and by options that are most active (i.e., ones that are showing some volume of trade and/or open interest, but preferably both, although this is preferable it is not a strict requirement). If you do not see price, volume and open interest data next to an option it could be that you are either accessing the website when CBOE is not open, or the options are not heavily traded. In this case choose other options and access the website during Chicago opening times. Avoid lunch time in Chicago. Take a note of the exact time and date of your data download, or simply copy the screen information. The Chicago Trading Hours are: 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. Central Time (Chicago time). Interest Rate DataYou also need an annualised risk-free rate to calculate ‘theoretical’ fair prices for the options using the Black and Scholes and the Binomial pricing models. Use the ‘interest rates’ market data provided by Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/rates/index.html). Select an appropriate yield for the risk free interest rate. This usually is the yield of a Treasury Bill (or zero curve) that has a maturity closest to that of the option(s) you downloaded. You are advised to have the same maturity for all your options, but note that if you download options with different maturities you may need more than one interest rate to match. If the maturity of your options is in-between the maturities of two listed Treasury’s then you may need to ‘interpolate’ the yield to end up with one that matches the maturity of the options. Alternative sources of interest rate data (the first is more official) are:1. http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/interest-rates/Pages/Historic-LongTerm-Rate-Data-Visualization.aspx2. If you have access to Datastream use the following mnemonics (instrument code):  FRTB3M for 3-months Treasury Bills or  FRTB6M for 6-months treasury bills. Datastream is available in the pc labs in Mary Burton Building only (for Edinburgh Campus Students). It is found under icon names ‘Avance4’ or ‘Advance5’. But it takes a bit of getting used to.Proper calculations of theoretical option pricesNote that in calculating theoretical option prices you will also need a value for the annual dividend yield on the S&P100 index and an estimate of volatility of the index.  Read the relevant sections below on how to obtain these. Estimating Volatility of the Index (Downloading index volatility data)An estimate of sigma (volatility) for the index can be obtained by reading the value of the volatility index that has a symbol VXO. (Enter VXO on the right hand side box that appears when you click the ‘Quotes&Data’ tab and choose ‘Delayed Quotes’ in the CBOE website). Note, this must be obtained within the same 15-minute interval during which you download the option data.Estimating Annualised Dividend Yield (Downloading index dividend yield data)To calculate theoretical option prices you also need an estimate of the annualised dividend yield of the S&P100 index at the time of downloading the price data. Search for a reasonable value, and although this can be difficult, try http://etfdb.com/index/sp-100-index/dividends/ which gives the dividend yield on an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) that tracks the S&P100. If you can’t find dividend yield try: http://markets.on.nytimes.com/research/markets/mutualfunds/snapshot.asp?symbol=OEFEnriching Your Analysis? As a base case, do your analysis using mid prices = (bid+ask)/2. Or you can enrich your analysis by performing calculations on bid and on ask prices separately. The difference between the results using the bid from those using the ask prices should be a reflection of the effect of ‘transaction costs,’ and hence you can discuss these effects.Step 1 Coursework RequirementsThe requirements are:a. Investigate (calculating and checking) whether the put-call parity holds for the actual market prices of both the European and the American options. Interpret the results (more emphasis and marks will be given to interpretation).b. Calculate the difference between the actual market prices of the American and European options that have the same exercise price and maturity. Interpret the results (more emphasis and marks will be given to interpretation).c. Calculate the theoretical Black and Scholes prices of all the selected European and American options and compare these theoretical values with the actual market prices of the options. Interpret any differences (more emphasis and marks will be given to the interpretation).STEP 2Binomial Model Setup FeaturesUsing the ‘binomial model’, build a binomial tree for the index level with three time steps, so that the overall time horizon is equal to the maturity of the options selected (i.e., divide the maturity into three equal intervals). With regard to the binomial calculations choose the upward and downward size of price movement as a function of the volatility of the index level (i.e., function of sigma of the index). You can use the equations provided by Chance and Brooks for up (u) and down (d) parameter movements as functions of sigma, also provided in the lecture material. For estimates of sigma see Estimating Volatility of the Index above. You will also need an estimate of the dividend yield on the index. For these see Estimating Annualised Dividend Yieldabove.Step 2 Course RequirementsBinomial Pricing Using the VXO estimate of volatility evaluate the call and put options using the three-step binomial tree previously constructed for the index level (here you need to have your tree calculations automated so you can evaluate all options). Compare the binomial option prices with the actual option prices observed in the market and discuss the reasons why you do, or do not, observe any differences. (More emphasis and marks will be given to discussion.)Black and Scholes versus BinomialUsing the VXO estimate of volatility calculate the Black-Scholes prices of the put and call options. Compare these values with the actual market prices and with those obtained by the Binomial model. Discuss possible reasons for any differences (i.e., compare Black-Scholes versus Binomial, American versus European, puts versus calls, ATM versus OTM). (More emphasis and marks will be given to the discussion of each of these comparisons)Implied volatilityBy trial and error, find the value of the volatility parameter at which the Black and Scholes price equals the observed actual market price for each option. The value of volatility at which the observed actual market price equals the Black and Scholes price is known as ‘implied volatility’. Create plots of the implied volatility of the options against their exercise price. Compare these values of implied volatility with each other. Also compare them with the value obtained from the VXO index. Discuss the reasons for any differences from each other and from the VXO value. (More emphasis and marks will be given to discussion.)NotesCBOE symbol explanationIn CBOE each option has a symbol, and here is an example of how to read these symbols.Example: OEX1327A600 – E (2013 Jan 600.00 Call)OEX is the CBOE symbol of the instrument (in this case S&P 100 American option). The next two digits, 13, stand for the year 2013.The next two digits and letter stand for the expiration date and expiration monthFor call options ‘A’ stands for January, ‘B’ for February, ‘C’ for March,..etc. to ‘L’. For put options ‘M’ stands for January, ‘N’ for February, ‘O’ for March,..etc. to ‘X’. So ‘27A’ is 27thof January, and since the letter ‘A’ is used then it indicates a call option. The following number, 600, stands for the strike price of the option. The letter E after the hyphen indicates the market in which the option is traded, in this case CBOE.Alternatively, if you click on the symbol the website will provide you with more detail.Full description of the contract details, including the exact maturity day can be found by clicking the ‘Products’ tab in the CBOE website, http://www.cboe.com/products/indexopts/oex_spec.aspx Marking SchemeIn general the overall course requirements and the marking scheme are as follows:1. Discussions of whether the put call parity holds for actual market prices of European and American options? (10 marks)2. Interpret differences between American and European option prices (5)3. Interpret differences between Black and Scholes and actual prices (5)4. Construct 3-step binomial (10)5. Compare binomial and actual prices – interpret any differences (10)6. Calculate B&S prices. (5)7. Compare B&S with binomial prices – discuss differences, B&S vs Binomial (6)American vs European (6)ATM vs OTM (8)8. Calculate implied volatility (5)9. Discussion of the plot of implied volatility against moneyness or X. (10)10. Compare implied vol with each other and with VXO – interpret differences (10)Spreadsheets (10)

Multiple personality disorder also referred to as dissociative identity disorder, is a condition in which a person’s identity divided into various distinct personality states. Personality refers to various attributes, including emotions, behavior, temperament, and the state of mind that characterizes a unique individual. According to Ringrose (2018), an individual has only one personality, and a person exhibiting several personalities is said to be suffering from a dissociative identity disorder. The video I watched is about a patient, Tony, who is suffering from multiple personalities and is having a therapy session with Dr. Howland. As narrated, Tony has fifty-three personalities, but three of his personalities stand out of the rest: Tony, the original; Richard, his cousin who had a brain tumor and died and; Dede, the one who remembers everything (Annenberg Learner, 2018). The therapist states that Tony has an issue of free-flowing consciousness, and he believes that he shares his body with many people. At the beginning of the video, Tony is talking in the woods about his current condition, and he places himself in the third person meaning that he is detached from his present situations. He smokes to help him handle some of the situations such as stress or when other personalities take over him. Tony seems to be bothered about his condition, but he cannot believe that he can have changed. Besides, Richard avoids questions, and when asked whether he knew his wife, Gloria, he states that Tony is married to Gloria and not him (Annenberg Learner, 2018). Also, when his personality shift, Tony showed changes in body language such as coughing, rubbing his eyes, shaking hands nervously, and seemed to be distracted from his surroundings. He changed his personality from Tony to Richard and Anthony. However, Richard took charge whenever the therapist wanted to prob deeper to obtain any important information. At the end of the video, Tony goes back to the woods, and he shares his thoughts concerning the outcomes of the brain imaging test. He wanted evidence to prove that he has other personalities, and the test enabled him to understand what was happening was real, as seen through clarity and confidence, his words, breathing, and posture. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2, ESV). Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.End of exercise. You can leave the windows open for the next exercise. Exercise 9.2 Configuring Round Robin Overview By default, DNS Round Robin is enabled. Round robin operates by providing one DNS server IP address to a given query, then provides a different IP address for the next query, and so on, until a configured list of DNS server IP addresses runs out. The last query causes a loop-around to the first IP address and begins the sequence over again. In this exercise, you create two resource records to demonstate round robin  switching between two separate DNS IP addresses   Mindset Round robin is a DNS balancing mechanism that distributes network load among multiple servers by rotating resource records retrieved from a DNS server. Completion time 10 minutes 1.On RWDC01, with DNS Manager console, create a host record for web.adatum.com that points to 192.168.1.205.2.Create a second host record for web.adatum.com that points to 192.168.1.206.3.At the command prompt, execute the following command:   nslookup web.adatum.com Question 14 What addresses were returned? 4.Re-execute the nslookup web.adatum.com command. Question 15 What addresses were returned? 5.Execute the following command:   ping web.adatum.com   Don’t worry that the ping fails; focus on the address that is returned.6.Execute the ping web.adatum.com command again, and then execute the command a couple more times. Observe that the return address toggles back and forth between 192.168.1.205 and 192.168.1.206, in effect, balancing the query load between two IP addresses. End of exercise. You can leave the windows open for the next exercise. Exercise 9.3 Configuring Zone Scavenging Overview With dynamic addresses, often resource records will be added to a DNS zone, and will remain there unless they are manually deleted or scavanged. During this exercise, you configure zone scavenging. Mindset When you want DNS zone scavenging, you must enable scavenging at the server and at the zone. Completion time 10 minutes 1.On RWDC01, with DNS Manager console, right-click RWDC01and choose Set Aging/Scavenging for all Zones. The Server Aging/Scavenging Properties dialog box opens as shown in Figure 9-2.Figure 9-2Configuring aging and scavenging settings Question 16 When you enable DNS scavenging, what is the default number of days before a record is scavenged? 2.Click the Scavenge stale resource records option.3.Click OK to close the Server Aging/Scavenging Properties dialog box.4.Click to enable the Apply these settings to the existing Active Directory-integrated zones option. Click OK to close the Server Aging/Scavenging Confirmation dialog box.5.Right-click the adatum.com zone and choose Properties.6.On the General tab, click the Aging button. The Zone Aging/Scavenging Properties dialog box opens.7.Click to enable the Scavenge stale resource records option.8.Take a screen shot of the DNS Manager window by pressing Alt+Prt Scr and then paste it into your Lab09_worksheet file in the page provided by pressing Ctrl+V.9.Click OK to close the Server Aging/Scavenging Properties dialog box.10. You can leave the windows open for the next exercise. Exercise 8.6 Configuring Forwarding and Conditional  Forwarding Zones Overview To improve performance, you can control which DNS servers requests are forwarded to when performing naming resolution by configuring forwarding and creating conditional forwarding zones. In this exercise, you configure forwarding and create a conditional forwarding zone. Mindset By default, when a client contacts a DNS server and the DNS server does not know the answer, it performs an iterative query to find the answer (which means it first contacts the root domain and additional DNS servers until it finds the authoritative DNS server for the zone). However, DNS servers can be configured to be forwarded to another DNS server or a conditional forwarder based on the domain name queried. Completion time 10 minutes Configuring Forwarders1.On Server01, go to the DNS Manager console. Right-click Server01 and choose Properties. IntroductionThe Walt Disney Company represents a truly immense organization composed of five strategic business units which, with the consideration of the consolidated revenue, represented roughly $42.3 billion as of their fiscal year end on Sept 29, 2012. (Fiscal Year 2011 Annual Financial Report and Shareholder Letter, 2011). The five SBUs are Disney Consumer products, Studio Entertainment, Parks and Resorts, Media Networks Broadcasting, and Interactive Media. (Fiscal Year 2011 Annual Financial Report and Shareholder Letter, 2011). These five SBUs can be further subdivided into 28 categories and are composed of a variety of brands. The only two common areas that can be found in the Walt Disney Company’s holdings are entertainment and information. Every business activity the organization is engaged in is related in some manner to providing its consumer base entertainment and or information.Despite the two commonalities of their activities, there exists a wide array of variety in their operations. One of the growth strategies that has aided the corporation reach its current level of success is the fact that the organization has expanded both vertically and horizontally into new markets by targeted segmentation. In most cases, it reaches these market segments by acquiring a previously established brand such as ABC, ESPN, and recently Marvel Comics and Lucasfilms. (Walt Disney Company subsidiaries). Furthermore, it is only through the diversification in branding that Disney has grown simply because the children’s brand is comparatively limited in terms of the target demographic. It is also the same diversity that minimizes the systemic risk involved with operating in too narrow of a portfolio. The individual external threats to Walt Disney are as diversified as the company itself. However, one of the greatest potential risks to the overall aspirations of the company is rooted in the protection of its brand(s) image and credibility. The history of the Walt Disney Company and its positive reputation are deeply engrained within the cultural heritage of people worldwide. This is also evident in the fact that their balance sheets show excessive amounts of intangible assets and goodwill. According to their balance sheet in 2011, Disney accounted for almost $80 million in intangible assets. (Fiscal Year 2011 Annual Financial Report and Shareholder Letter, 2011). They are more subject to risks than more traditional assets. Therefore, a balance must be achieved that embraces diversity in branding but also maintains a healthy risk adversity to any potential threats to brand’s integrity. The major threats that Disney faces include protecting their intellectual properties, especially in the Studio Entertainment division, as well as threats generated by an economic downturn. Most of Disney’s products and services are priced at a premium and are at risk in a period of recession. There are several competitors in the theme park industry, but when it comes to movies and television, the number of rivals are too numerous to mention.Disney’s internal strengths are composed mainly of the company’s innovative leveraging of its financial expertise and tremendous brand recognition to move vertically and horizontally into new markets. Innovation has been at the core of Disney’s organizational culture virtually from day one. The fact that their portfolio is so diversified also offers the company substantial advantages in terms of risk mitigation.SWOT AnalysisStrengthsBrand recognitionStrong customer loyaltyHigh quality products and servicesWeaknessesHigh operating costsBrand is mainly associated with childrenGrowth barriers in theme parksOpportunitiesFurther foreign expansionUnlimited character developmentMulticultural marketing (Cinco de Mayo, Lunar New Year, etc.)ThreatsOther theme parksOther online retailersRecent acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilms could post low or unprofitable salesRecommendationsThe recommended strategies for the Walt Disney Company are composed of initiatives on two separate fronts. First, SBUs must continue to strengthen operations by identifying new opportunities in the current target markets. This lies solely in the skill set of management. One example of such is the new attractions being planned for the theme parks. However, the most noticeable example of innovative ideas was Disney’s real estate venture that takes their “magic” to a whole new level. In this case, Disney successfully leveraged its incredible brand recognition in the real estate market by creating communities with their image marketing theme coupled with their branding and consequentially adding value to the consumer. (Watson, 2010).This type of innovative leveraging of the Disney brand represents the second strategy recommendation. Their endeavors into new markets, both in and out of the SBU structure, must maintain Disney’s values and be fully compatible with either their entertainment niche or also possibly along the informational divisions. Another example that falls within the traditional SBU structure with regards to growth through acquisition that has proven successful is Disney’s acquirement of Pixar Entertainment in 2006. (LaMonica, 2006). This move was completely in line with Disney’s strong roots in animation and not only acted to benefit that specific SBU, but also strengthened the brand as a whole. In conclusion, to continue its growth ambitions, Disney must continue its innovative developments from within the traditional SBU structure. Moreover, it must scan for opportunities, such as the real estate venture, which lies outside the traditional hierarchy. To achieve this, Disney must not only foster the culture of innovation that builds from a bottom up approach through the SBU hierarchy. In fact, it must also be innovative itself in identifying new opportunities. This requires a corporate project coordination team that will engage in project management until the point when the project has been integrated into the SBUs, or when it becomes a standalone SBU in the future. It is difficult to forecast how much revenue this will generate, but it can be compared to the current growth in net income. Net Income Growth 2009 $613 million 2010 $953 million 6% 2011 $1.08 billion 30% Between 2009 and 2011, Disney has almost doubled their net income. Below is a chart showing how much revenue each SBU is responsible for.Based on these figures, I believe that every SBU could be classified as a Cash Cow with the exception of Interactive Media. While it’s showing to be the lease productive as far as revenue wise, it has shown the most gain over the past year, with a rise of 29%. The other SBUs each have respectable gains in their own right, except Studio Entertainment, only due to the fact they didn’t release that many movies this past year. (Fiscal Year 2011 Annual Financial Report and Shareholder Letter, 2011). The objectives proposed consist of identifying opportunities for acquisition or entrance into a new market and creating a project team to capture this opportunity. This proposal recommends that the project portfolio be evaluated quarterly. Each separate SBU should have some freedom to decipher the projects scope, schedule and budget while a corporate team leads initiatives that fall outside the realm of the traditional SBU structure. The centralized project coordination office will then have the ability to compare the proposed net present value among all projects across the traditional divisional lines to make sure that the projects with the greatest benefits secure funding and all projects follow a set of best practices. Centralization of this unit also opens the doors to creating a knowledge management base that can also be share across divisional lines. The key advantages of this method are:Retain corporate control over acquisitions and projectsAllow the SBUs freedom for creativity while maintaining functional efficienciesMaintain aggressive profit growth by funding projects with the greatest net present value. It is recommended that the project coordination team be developed to maintain project management best practices without being overly intrusive to the project’s objectives. Also, acquisitions must be monitored as well since these will represent a bulk of the company’s growth strategy. Subsequently, change management practices must be adhered to during such integrations. Disney must also be cognizant of the corporate culture that is subject to any acquisition to ensure that integration does not come with insurmountable resistance. Ultimately, the proposed focus on innovation and acquisition must be subject to evaluation, and the scorecard for all businesses is written in economic terms. Within the five primary SBUs, such evaluations are comparatively simple to conduct due to the large amount of historical performance data available. New projects and acquisitions require more craft in terms of evaluations but these can be compared with the net benefit analysis produced before the project’s inception to provide a measure of success. Works CitedFiscal Year 2011 Annual Financial Report and Shareholder Letter. HISREDO243Project1TopicExplorationWorksheetSubmission1

Part 1Select a research topic area for Project 1 based on which of the following areas interests you the most. You will explore the selected topic a little later in this theme. Mark your selection in the right-hand column. Drafting of the U.S. Constitution Mao Zedong’s Rule Over China South African Apartheid ü Choose Your Own Topic In the space below, write a short paragraph about what you already knew about the topic you selected prior to this course, based on your personal history or experiences. This may include assumptions, beliefs, or values related to the topic. Be as detailed as possible. I recall when I was still in school the first time through the South African Apartheid was continually on the news. I recall the arrival of Nelson Mandela following 27 years of detainment in my sophomore year of secondary school. It’s my understanding that Apartheid was much similar to the racial isolation Martin Luther King battled against in the United States. I’m uncertain yet anticipate examining the effect that had on South Africa’s relations with other increasingly ground breaking nations. Part 2Now that you have identified your topic and described what you already know about the topic, what questions do you still have about the topic that you would like to know? Place your answers in the right-hand column. Identify one question about the topic that you are curious about. How did other nations respond toward the South African Apartheid? Describe why this question matters to you personally. I experienced my childhood in a community where prejudice didn’t exist superficially (or maybe I was blind to it, yet black colleagues have affirmed it wasn’t there when we were growing up). I trust the more I think about it the more I can battle it. Describe why this question matters to society. Discussion of the “racial division” is more common now than I can ever recall it being. I believe it’s vital for individuals of all races to think about and get bigotry and how it’s not to anybody’s advantage. Identify a second question about the topic you are curious about. When was politically-sanctioned racial segregation established? To what extent did it last? Describe why this question matters to you personally. It doesn’t Describe why this question matters to society. Understanding the timespan may help decide the mood of the members. It appears that racial discrimination was endured all the more amid certain timespans. Part 3You are now ready to complete the final part of your Topic Exploration Worksheet. You have chosen a topic, posed some research questions, and are ready to start thinking about what kind of sources you will need to investigate your research questions further. Using the library guide in the Shapiro Library provided for your chosen topic, skim through the suggested resources (or find your own) and complete the following information for your research questions. List which secondary sources would be helpful for investigating your first research question. Baines, G. (July 01, 2010). South Africa: Remembering Sharpeville. History Today, 60, 7.) Since I have a greater comprehension of the task (I think) and where I turned out badly, I’ve chosen to concentrate on the Sharpeville Massacre. On March 21, 1960, 69 black South Africans were murdered, and another 186 were injured amid a demonstration organized outside of the police headquarters in Sharpeville. The dissent was organized by Robert Sobukwe, a leader in the counter politically-sanctioned racial segregation Pan-African Congress (PAC). To limit the likelihood of brutality, Sobukwe composed a letter to the Sharpeville police official reporting the up and coming challenge and underscoring that it would be a peaceful event. Around 7000 Africans united in Sharpeville for the dissent against restrictive pass laws. About 300 police were there to stop the peaceful dissent. Most exploited people were shot in the back running from police. The slaughter brought overall thoughtfulness regarding the loathsomeness that was politically-sanctioned racial segregation. It likewise started several mass challenges crosswise over South Africa. On March 30th the South African government proclaimed a highly sensitive situation which made dissents unlawful. The challenge boycott went on until August 31, 1960, amid this time there were about 25000 arrests across the country. The South African government’s reactions to the massacre escalated politically-sanctioned racial segregation resistance inside the nation and expanded objection from world leaders.

Student’s NameProfessor’s NameInstitution AffiliationCourse DateWhy We CiteCiting sources is a crucial part of writing academic works and completing credible research papers on any topic of choice. Some of the most basic advantages of citing works include ensuring credibility, avoiding plagiarism, and confirming that the paper is researched (Ennser-Kananen, 2019). Make proper citations ensures that someone who reads the paper and wants to get further explanations or information about the topic can follow the cited sources and research further. The sources cited in the paper should be the ones that were used to acquire the details even if there are paraphrased and additional information (Pears, 2019). A responsible scholar is seen through giving credit to the researchers who contributed to the information included in the paper. Providing a reliable citation in the footnotes, a bibliography, or a reference list enables further development of the research because a reader can find the exact sources or related sources. Besides, the writer can refer to the first work when developing the next projects.Citing involves acknowledging the contribution of other sources to the words, concepts, graphs, images, and figures to the final work or a project. The citations use short forms to show the specific work, chapter, web site, or article that was used (Ennser-Kananen, 2019). The most important information to include in a citation include the author name, title of the article, or journal, dates of publication, volume and issue numbers, or the page numbers, depending on the citation style used. The style can be indicated as part of the completion instruction, or the writer can choose the most appropriate approach to cite. Including a proper citation in the work allows the writer to use other people’s work and avoid the challenge of finding every bit of information (Pears, 2019). Through the use of proper citation, the writer saves time and allows for further development of the subject.ReferencesEnnser-Kananen, Johanna. “Are we who we cite?: on epistemological injustices, citing practices, and# metoo in academia.”Apples: Journal of Applied Language Studies13.2 (2019).Pears, Richard, and Graham J. NAME: INSTUCTOR:DATE: Assignment 4LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT – LEADERSHIP CONSULTANT AnalysisDue Date: Week 9Note: All scenarios in this assignment are fictional.Real BusinessIt can be difficult for a business to improve how it operates from inside the organization. Sometimes, an outside perspective is needed. The large discount retail store you work for wants to improve its in-store restaurant management team.Your RoleCompanies like Target and Walmart often works with outside consultants—people who are not employees of the company but who are hired on a contract basis to help with a specific project. As a Leadership Consultant, you’ve been hired by a large discount retail company to help the company improve its leadership structure and approach to management. What Is a LEADERSHIP CONSULTANT? A leadership consultant is a person called in to a company, be it a large corporation or a small business, to evaluate how it operates and make recommendations for improvement. Leadership consultants are typically hired when a business is struggling and needs to make changes in order to remain profitable. Such consultants are often highly educated in the field of business and have experience in managerial roles. InstructionsStep 1: ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURETake a look at the Organization Chart provided by the company.Based on your knowledge of hierarchies, would you say that this team has tall structure or flat structure?Underline your selection:Tall StructureFlat StructureExplain your answer.Step 2: HUMAN RESOURCESThe company would like to improve the culture of its team and the quality of its work. Its leadership has provided you with a Process Chart detailing how it currently applies Human Resources best practices. What step of the Human Resources Cycle is missing? Explain why it is important to include this part of the process.Note: You should complete Steps 3 & 4 after reading the material in Week 9.Step 3: LEADERSHIP STYLEYou have been asked to help improve the leadership style of the team leader in order to meet the team’s performance goals. The team leader has given you a description of what is most comfortable in terms of leading others.Identify this leader’s style of leadership. Underline your selection:PacesettingVisionaryAffiliativeCoachingCoerciveDemocratic Explain your reasoning and list two benefits and two drawbacks to the style of leadership you identified as it relates to the performance of the team. Provide advice to the team leader on how to overcome the drawbacks of this leadership style.Step 4: REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONApply the thinking in Steps 1-3 as if you were a Leadership Consultant hired by the company where you work or for a previous employer. Review the organization chart for your company. Based on your knowledge of hierarchies, would you say that your company’s team has a tall structure or flat structure? How does this affect the way your team works? Explain your answer. Consider the work conducted by the Human Resources team at your company. What steps of the Human Resources Cycle do they implement well? What steps of the Human Resources Cycle might be missing from your company or are not implemented as well as they could be? What is the effect of this on you and your team? Explain your answer. Lastly, reflect on the leadership style of either yourself or your supervisor. What leadership style do you have, or what leadership style does your supervisor have? What are the benefits and drawbacks of this style for your team? What might you or your supervisor do to improve leadership? Explain your answer.

mportant notes about grading: 1. Compiler errors:All code you submit must compile. Programs that do not compile will receive an automatic zero. If you run out of time, it is better to comment out the parts that do not compile, than hand in a more complete file that does not compile. 2. Late assignments:You must submit your code before the deadline. Verify on Sakai that you have submitted the correct version. If you submit the incorrect version before the deadline and realize that you have done so after the deadline, we will only grade the version received before the deadline. A Prolog interpreter In this project, you will implement a Prolog interpreter inOCaml. If you want to implement the project inPython, download the source codehereand follow the README file. Parsing functions and test-cases are provided. Pseudocode Your main task is to implement thenon-deterministicabstract interpreter covered in the lectureControl in Prolog. Thepseudocodeof the abstract interpreter is in the lecture note. Bonus There is also a bonus task for implementing adeterministicProlog interpreter with support for backtracking (recover from bad choices) and choice points (produce multiple results). Please refer to the lecture notesProgramming with ListsandControl in Prologfor more details about this algorithm.Bonus will only be added to projects implmented in OCaml. How to Start (OCaml): 1. Download the source codehere. 2. You will need to implement your code infinal/src/final.ml. We give detailed instructions on the functions that you need to implement below. You only need to implement functions withraise (Failure “Not implemented”). Delete this line after implementation is done. 3. The test-cases (also seen below) are provided infinal/test/public.ml(if usingDune) andfinal/main.ml(if usingMake). 4. To compile and run your implementation, we provide two options: Option (1): UsingDune: typedune runtest -fin the command-line window underfinaldirectory. Option (2): UsingMake: First, to compile the code, typemakein the command-line window underfinaldirectory. Second, to run the code, type./main.bytein the command-line window underfinaldirectory. Randomness Because randomness is the key to the success of the non-deterministic abstract interpreter (please see the lecture noteControl in Prologto find why), we first initialize the randomness generator with a random seed chosen in a system-dependent way. In[]: open Stdlib let _  = Random.self_init () Abstract Syntax Tree To implement the abstract interpreter, we will start with the definition of prolog terms (i.e. abstract syntax tree). In[]: type term =   | Constant of string       (* Prolog constants, e.g., rickard, ned, robb, a, b, … *)   | Variable of string       (* Prolog variables, e.g., X, Y, Z, … *)   | Function of string * term list  (* Prolog functions, e.g., append(X, Y, Z), father(rickard, ned),                               ancestor(Z, Y), cons (H, T) abbreviated as [H|T] in SWI-Prolog, …                               The first component of Function is the name of the function,                               whose parameters are in a term list, the second component of Function.*) A Prologprogramconsists ofclausesandgoals. Aclausecan be either afactor arule. A Prologruleis in the shape ofhead :- body. For example, ancestor(X, Y) :- father(X, Z), ancestor(Z, Y). In the above rule (also called a clause),ancestor(X, Y)is theheadof the rule, which is a PrologFunctiondefined in the typetermabove. The rule’sbodyis a list of terms:father(X, Z)andancestor(Z, Y). Both are PrologFunctions. A Prologfactis simply aFunctiondefined in the typeterm. For example, father(rickard, ned). In the above fact (also a clause), we say rickard is ned’s father. A Prolog goal (also called a query) is a list of PrologFunctions, which is typed as a list of terms. For example, ?- ancestor(rickard, robb), ancestor(X, robb). In the abovegoal, we are interested in two queries which are PrologFunctions:ancestor(rickard, robb)andancestor(X, robb). In[]: let rec string_of_f_list f tl =   let _, s = List.fold_left (fun (first, s) t –<   let prefix = if first then "" else s ^ ", " in   false, prefix ^ (f t)) (true,"") tl   in   s (* This function converts a Prolog term (e.g. a constant, variable or function) to a string *) let rec string_of_term t =   match t with   | Constant c -< c   | Variable v -< v   | Function (f,tl) -<  f ^ "(" ^ (string_of_f_list string_of_term tl) ^ ")" (* This function converts a list of Prolog terms, separated by commas, to a string *) let string_of_term_list fl =   string_of_f_list string_of_term fl (* This function converts a Prolog goal (query) to a string *) let string_of_goal g =   "?- " ^ (string_of_term_list g) (* This function converts a Prolog clause (e.g. a rule or a fact) to a string *) let string_of_clause c =   match c with   | Fact f -< string_of_term f ^ "."   | Rule (h,b) -< string_of_term h ^ " :- " ^ (string_of_term_list b) ^ "." Please see the lecture noteControl in Prologto revisit the concept of occurs-check. Hint: You don't need to use pattern matching to deconstructv(typeterm) to compare the string value ofvwith that of another variable. You can compare twoVariables via structural equality, e.g.Variable "s" = Variable "s". Therefore, iftis a variable, it suffices to usev = tto make the equality checking. Note that you should use=rather than==for testing structural equality. In[]: let rec occurs_check v t =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented") Examples and test-cases. In[]: assert (occurs_check (var "X") (var "X")) assert (not (occurs_check (var "X") (var "Y"))) assert (occurs_check (var "X") (func "f" [var "X"])) assert (occurs_check (var "E") (func "cons" [const "a"; const "b"; var "E"])) The last test-case above was taken from the example we used to illustrate the occurs-check problem in the lecture noteControl in Prolog. ?- append([], E, [a,b | E]). Here theoccurs_checkfunction asks whether theVariableE appears on theFunctiontermfunc "cons" [const "a"; const "b"; var "E"]. The return value should betrue. Problem 2 Implement the following functions which return the variables contained in a term or a clause (e.g. a rule or a fact): variables_of_term : term -< VarSet.t variables_of_clause  : clause -< VarSet.t The result must be saved in a data structure of typeVarSetthat is instantiated from OCaml Set module. The type of each element (a PrologVariable) in the set istermas defined above (VarSet.t = term). You may want to useVarSet.singleton tto return a singletion set containing only one elementt, useVarSet.emptyto represent an empty variable set, and useVarSet.union t1 t2to merge two variable setst1andt2. In[]: module VarSet = Set.Make(struct type t = term let compare = Stdlib.compare end) (* API Docs for Set : https://caml.inria.fr/pub/docs/manual-ocaml/libref/Set.S.html *) let rec variables_of_term t =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented")   let variables_of_clause c =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented") Examples and test-cases: In[]: (* The variables in a function f (X, Y, a) is [X; Y] *) assert (VarSet.equal (variables_of_term (func "f" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"]))      (VarSet.of_list [var "X"; var "Y"])) (* The variables in a Prolog fact p (X, Y, a) is [X; Y] *) assert (VarSet.equal (variables_of_clause (fact (func "p" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"])))      (VarSet.of_list [var "X"; var "Y"])) (* The variables in a Prolog rule p (X, Y, a) :- q (a, b, a) is [X; Y] *) assert (VarSet.equal (variables_of_clause (rule (func "p" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"])      [func "q" [const "a"; const "b"; const "a"]]))      (VarSet.of_list [var "X"; var "Y"])) Problem 3 The value of typeterm Substitution.tis a OCaml map whose key is of typetermand value is of typeterm. It is a map from variables to terms. Implement substitution functions that takes aterm Substitution.tand uses that to perform the substitution: substitute_in_term : term Substitution.t -< term -< term substitute_in_clause : term Substitution.t -< clause -< clause See the lecture noteControl in Prologto revisit the concept of substitution. For example,휎={푋/푎,푌/푍,푍/푓(푎,푏)}σ={X/a,Y/Z,Z/f(a,b)}is substitution. It is a map from variablesX, Y, Zto termsa, Z, f(a,b). Given a term퐸=푓(푋,푌,푍)E=f(X,Y,Z), the substitution퐸휎Eσis푓(푎,푍,푓(푎,푏))f(a,Z,f(a,b)). You may want to use theSubstitution.find_opt t sfunction. The function takes a term (variable)tand a substitution mapsas input and returnsNoneiftis not a key in the mapsor otherwise returnsSome t'wheret' = s[t]. In[]: module Substitution = Map.Make(struct type t = term let compare = Stdlib.compare end) (* See API docs for OCaml Map: https://caml.inria.fr/pub/docs/manual-ocaml/libref/Map.S.html *) (* This funtion converts a substitution to a string (for debugging) *) let string_of_substitution s =   "{" ^ (   Substitution.fold (  fun v t s -<    match v with    | Variable v -< s ^ "; " ^ v ^ " -< " ^ (string_of_term t)    | Constant _ -< assert false (* Note: substitution maps a variable to a term! *)    | Function _ -< assert false (* Note: substitution maps a variable to a term! *)   ) s ""   ) ^ "}"   let rec substitute_in_term s t =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented")   let substitute_in_clause s c =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented") Examples and test-cases: In[]: (* We create a substitution map s = [Y/0, X/Y] *) let s =   Substitution.add (var "Y") (const "0") (Substitution.add (var "X") (var "Y") Substitution.empty) (* Function substitution - f (X, Y, a) [Y/0, X/Y] = f (Y, 0, a) *) assert (substitute_in_term s (func "f" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"]) =    func "f" [var "Y"; const "0"; const "a"]) (* Fact substitution - p (X, Y, a) [Y/0, X/Y] = p (Y, 0, a) *) assert (substitute_in_clause s (fact (func "p" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"])) =    (fact (func "p" [var "Y"; const "0"; const "a"]))) (* Given a Prolog rule, p (X, Y, a) :- q (a, b, a), after doing substitution [Y/0, X/Y],     we have p (Y, 0, a) :- q (a, b, a) *) assert (substitute_in_clause s (rule (func "p" [var "X"; var "Y"; const "a"]) [func "q" [const "a"; const "b"; const "a"]]) =    (rule (func "p" [var "Y"; const "0"; const "a"]) [func "q" [const "a"; const "b"; const "a"]])) Problem 4 Implementing the function: unify : term -< term -< term Substitution.t The function returns a unifier of the given terms. The function should raise the exceptionraise Not_unfifiable, if the given terms are not unifiable (Not_unfifiableis a declared exception infinal.ml). You may find thepseudocodeofunifyin the lecture noteControl in Prologuseful. As in problem 3, you will need to usemodule Substitutionbecause unification is driven by subsititution. (See API docs for OCaml Map:https://caml.inria.fr/pub/docs/manual-ocaml/libref/Map.S.html) You may want to usesubstitute_in_termto implement the first and second lines of the pseudocode. You may want to useSubstitution.emptyfor an empty subsitution map,Substitution.singleton v tfor creating a new subsitution map that contains a single substitution[v/t], andSubstitution.add v t sto add a new substitution[v/t]to an existing substitution maps(this function may help implement the∪∪operation in the pseudocode). You may also want to useSubstitution.mapfor the휃θ[X/Y]operation in the pseudocode. This operation applies the subsitition[X/Y]to each term in thevaluesof the substitution map휃θ(thekeysof the substitution map휃θremain unchanged).Subsitution.map f sreturns a new substitution map with the same keys as the input substitution maps, where the associated termtfor each key ofshas been replaced by the result of the application offtot. UseList.fold_left2to implement thefold_leftfunction in the pseudocode (https://caml.inria.fr/pub/docs/manual-ocaml/libref/List.html). In[]: exception Not_unifiable let unify t1 t2 =   (* YOUR CODE HERE *) raise (Failure "Not implemented") Examples and test-cases: In[]: (* A substitution that can unify variable X and variable Y: {X-

Documenting Progress Plan

Documenting Progress Plan and ReflectionAs mentors and coaches, you will support teachers and staff throughout their process of inquiry. It is important that you plan and are prepared when checking in with your protégés. Additionally, you will want to continually reflect on your own growth and development as mentors. This week’s assignment is an opportunity to begin your progress plan and reflection. After reading the chapter in the course text, create a document (that you can potentially use when you are supporting teachers as a mentor or coach) and reflect on your own journey as a mentor. Please note this is a work in progress that will be modified based on your personal development and growth, as well as the development of those you coach and/or mentor.Part 1: Create your own Progress Plan document based on Table 5.7 that can be used for the current early childhood program you are working with or for a future program, making sure that you address all the elements for steps 1-4. Additionally, either embedded or at the top or bottom of the document, add a short checklist of questions that you find most relevant from Table 5.6 that you can use as reminders for yourself as you are checking in and documenting teacher’s progress.12/05/20205education
